When choosing a university, you always look for what it is Best for you and your future, and this is why I chose Cardiff Met:

  • I wanted to study in the UK no matter what!
  • Cardiff Met showed me that Cardiff is an excellent place to live and study.
  • Cardiff Met has been voted best University for International Student Support 5 years in a row.
  • There are students here from all over the world.
  • There are lots of different societies and activities, and different opportunities to study abroad.

To be honest, I felt a mixture of feelings about moving here. I was extremely excited and happy but at the same time a bit emotional and very intrigued about this new experience.

Even though I wasn’t able to attend the induction week and be part of all the welcoming activities and parties, it was super easy to make friends. You might be worried about feeling lost once you arrive, but that is normal! I found my best friends here and now I have a second family.

After a while at Cardiff Met, I decided to become an International Student Ambassador in order to help other students with aspects such as cultural shock and homesickness but also to provide new students a warm welcome, help with all the necessary information and requirements needed once they reach here.

Changing home, leaving your family & friends and starting University in a different country is not easy, but it is better with some help from those who have already experienced this situation! I wanted to be part of this team since my induction day because they helped me to find my way around the University, and also because I love helping people as much as I can. It is also a great opportunity for me to get to know new students with different languages and cultures.

If you are feeling nervous about applying to Cardiff Met and coming here from another country, my only advice for you is not to be nervous at all! I know everything is completely new here but Cardiff Met will make you feel at home. Lecturers and University staff will provide lots of support, and the welfare team will make this new path easier with lots of activities such as course trips and international parties!

Honestly, I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I’m proud of my University and I hope you join us! 🙂
