Hello, I’m Lerisha, an experienced Chartered Accountant with international experience across practice and industry. As a technologically savvy finance professional, after training at Deloitte, over the years I have subsequently worked with various elite firms and I currently enjoy working in the social sector where I have supported the Welsh economy and communities in both my leadership and Board roles.

How you feel the course aligns with your career aspirations and will benefit your goals?

Life-long learning is one of my key core values whereby my passion for business and professional growth has led me to pursue the Executive MBA part-time programme to further broaden and diversify my strategic skillset. This will hopefully enable me to successfully support my career goals as well as support the growth and restoration of the economy and society in an innovative way, especially during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in which we find ourselves today.

Why did you choose Cardiff Met?

The thought of going back to studies after many years can be both exciting yet intimidating, especially when working full-time! Therefore, after extensive due diligence, despite being awarded the opportunity of joining many other UK and international universities, I chose to enrol at Cardiff Met as I wanted to support my local Welsh University and I felt that the course offered the best fit around my full-time professional and personal commitments. Not only was the course flexible, as it offered weekend lectures locally (with the option to either attend physically or online), but it also offered a good variety of high-quality modules which came well-recommended by former students in the form of colleagues and family members.

Any highlights of your Executive MBA (EMBA) experience so far?

Initially, as a new student having enrolled during unprecedented and unusual Covid times, I remember feeling the pressure to perform, especially as I didn’t know what to expect from my first module. However, this experience also provided me with most rewarding highlight of the course so far as I excelled in my first Strategic Human Resource Management module whereby I was recognised as an exceptional student and writer by being spotlighted in the Cardiff School of Management newsletter. Feeling extremely pleasantly surprised, I then subsequently went on to serve as a peer reviewer and aspiring writer for a prominent management publication in the UK.

A further highlight has been my ability to directly apply and translate my learnings from the EMBA course in a real-time fashion to drive and support strategic growth, change and transformation in my role as a finance professional and digital transformation champion. My research findings and recommendations through my EMBA work-based assignments have been well-received, which has not only added meaningful value to the overall organisation but has also provided me with rewarding job satisfaction and career opportunities.
