How studying Fashion Marketing Management at Cardiff Met helped me land my Dream role in the Fashion Industry

I was drawn to the BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing Management degree at Cardiff Met due to the creative, as well as academic skills, involved and developed. Due to the course covering a broad scope of modules, it’s easy to tailor it to many different job roles, not just in the industry, keeping your career options open. Choosing to study fashion was a perfect choice for me because it was already a significant interest, so I didn’t have to force myself to research.

I graduated with a first-class degree and after graduation, my goal was to work in the fashion industry for an organisation that shares my values, values its employees, and has a modern and current culture. I couldn’t have gotten it more spot on…

I’ve landed myself a job at EDITED the global leader in retail intelligence, where I have the role of a Fashion and Retail Analyst. I have already spent a week in London visiting the office, getting to know some of the team in person, getting to know team members from overseas offices via Zoom. I write this from my home office where I’m working on the Copenhagen SS23 Fashion Week overview report, identifying trends and patterns in the details and trims featured in the show.

My new position as a Fashion and Retail Analyst at EDITED excites me because of the travel possibilities; we have offices in Sofia, Dallas, and New York. Additionally, there’s the opportunity to attend runway shows in order to have the runway overview reports delivered to customers as soon as possible so they can make informed and responsive decisions. The prospects for growth are equally exciting due to the success of the company being the global leader in retail intelligence with customers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, John Lewis, Puma and Abercrombie & Finch.

My advice for anyone thinking of studying on the BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing Management would be to get as much work experience under your belt as you can; the sector is competitive, and employers want to know if you can put your knowledge to use. It’s also a tonne of fun, insightful, and a great way to network. Also, within projects/assignments you can choose the brands you work with, so think outside the box and make it your own style! Be creative, go as far as you want with your project, and have fun with it! Make work you’re proud of and want to show off.

Dreams can come true quicker than you think!
